I painted this scene on location in Marshallton. The sun was rising on a brisk October morning. Color emerged as the shadows shrunk as the day emerged. The horses in the distance grazed the dew filled grass. A fellow painter made my day when she told me this painting made her feel the same as when she looked at a Rothko painting.
